After supper, mini-sessions, expanding on subjects such
as board breaking, the game of pin, sparring, fun and fitness, pressure
points, kicking drills, sparring and takedowns, and beanbag targeting were
offered, giving campers additional avenues of optional training experiences.
Some preferred joining in on an active game of volleyball, while others
opted to just hang out with friends and share their experiences of the day.
Beach Training:
Rolling, kicking, running, crawling, and
punching their way toward the water, the participants edged closer
and closer to the water. Finally the command was given,
"Flying side kicks INTO the water," and all charged. Even
though the water level was much lower than usual, the water provided the
perfect cushion for takedowns, throws, and flying sidekicks.
Beach training conducted by Master Angela McDowell, assisted
by David McDowell and Joey McDowell was a favorite of many of
the participants.

Kwan Jyel Sul:
Since its inception 13 years ago Summer Camp has had 3 major segments for
Saturday Training, these being, Hill, Water, and Weapons Training.
It was decided
this year to break with tradition and expand the rotations to
include a fourth segment: Kwan Jyel Sul. As most KMAI
students know Kwan Jyel Sul is the Korean name for joint
manipulation techniques. Students repeated specific joint
manipulation techniques over and over until they found
themselves able to execute them effectively. This session
was taught by Master John McDowell and Lawrence Bebout.
